If you’re still a child or maybe now a teenager and you’re getting older, what do you do about healthcare
your parents, or at least one of them, has taken a real interest into helping make sure that you got the
best, most appropriate healthcare they could find for your condition at the right time. They made the
decisions of whether you called the doctor, went to bed, drank plenty of fluids, or even went to the
emergency room. Now, as you approach adulthood, this needs to become your responsibility. Once
you’re 18, they can’t even talk to your parents without your permission. Listen, my name’s Dr. Rob Gillio.
I’m with the Force for Health, and it’s all about learning it, applying it to your own life and sharing it.
Learn about your condition now, apply to your own life, everything you’ve learned and learn how to do
healthcare transition. And this little section, it basically is you going through a checklist of understanding concepts. You need to be the the adult managing your healthcare, and eventually if you have a family
managing the healthcare of others, possibly even your parents when they get older. So thank you for
being a force for health. Work hard on taking personal responsibility for the healthcare decisions and the
health behavioral decisions you make. You’re in charge now. Get ready for it.
