The school nurse is a professional in the district, and often in the building, that can be your number one advocate. This app has a section on SCD for the school nurse and it includes a school nurse handbook. Please visit with the nurses and tell them about this free resource for them.
Please also brief them on your condition or have your parents and you meet with them. They can help inform your teachers to accommodate your physical or emotional needs and alter schedules or activities.
You may wish to share your tracker information with him or her if your are having symptoms. THey may be able to recognize a pattern and give some useful advice or get you help. They also know how to treat mild crisis situations, and know how to recognize and where to refer serious ones.
