Parents Guide to Newborn Screening

The Arizona Department of Health has a model program of newborn screening that is provided to the newborns and their parents across the state. Screening for over 20 conditions and having resources for those that are identified is best in class care.

This course stresses that sickle cell disease is one of the conditions, but it also talks about other conditions that are screened for and many of these can co-exist with sickle cell. It will take 15 minutes to complete.

Their is an information handout in the “Materials” folder above that is a good summary of what is covered.
